HEARTBREAKING: I hope our intervention has helped save this boy’s life.
On the same day that the First Minister was announcing her plans for a second independence referendum I was contacted by the distraught parents of George Tait.
He is only 18 weeks old and was diagnosed 9 weeks ago with a life threatening hole in the heart meaning that he needs urgent open heart surgery to try and save his life.
On the day of his surgery his parents followed the instructions to starve him from 2am for him to be in theatre for 8am. At 10am they were informed that the operation had been cancelled as there were no critical care unit beds available at the QEUH.
His operation has been rearranged and cancelled twice.
We know that this is not an isolated case with thousands of operations cancelled every year due to this Government’s mismanagement of our NHS.
Instead we have a Government that puts independence first and everything wise second.
The sad truth is that we have a Fist Minister that leads a campaign not a Government.
